Document SOS are experts in book restoration and conservation. Many forms of paper based mediums can/will benefit from our paper document restoration service. This is effective for a multitude of discrepancies including; tears, stains and de-acidification.
We have applied book restoration services to many libraries after a flood or fire disaster. Some of these libraries have contained historical documents and books that needed saving to preserve a valuable document.
Our book restoration team acts quickly to remove damaged and vulnerable items in a manner that is both methodical and precise, the books will be packed using specialised materials and crates. The books will then be transported to a secure environment to stop any ongoing damage or deterioration.
We are the only company of trained Paper Conservators who offer a Conservation Based Recovery Service which is entirely different to general removal or disaster recovery organisations.
When damaged books arrive at our book restoration base, we will carry out a disaster assessment. This process allows us to evaluate the damage that has been incurred by the books ensuring we choose the correct treatment and storage solutions.
We also create a report that will include our recommendations for measures that will need to be undertaken for disaster recovery, the treatments recommended and the overall cost. We can submit the report to both clients and insurers for approval. Whilst awaiting instructions from the clients the documents will remain in safe storage conditions.
